Like when they measure for a first down, when they bring out the markers, the ref places the ball where he spotted it when the player was down, so the “chaingang” comes out, when they are walking out, what if they go an inch or two up or down the field when walking to the ball, couldn’t that throw off the measurement? And sometimes the ball is only one or two inches from a first down…what if they moved back or forward two or three inches? Then wouldn’t it be innacurate? I mean they run out on the field so don’t they move a little? Could someone clarify?
